Port Harcourt—Authorities of the Port Harcourt Electricity Company, PHED, have identified poor security and refusal by customers to pay light bills as factors responsible for the poor power distribution in some states, including Bayelsa State.
Though the company is one of the 11 distribution firms that emerged from the privatisation of the Power Holding Company in 2013 , it described the security challenge facing staff and equipment and the non-payment of bills by some customers as major challenges facing the organisation.
The PHED management led by the Head, Glory City Main Integrated Business Centre, IBC, Mrs Ngozi Manafa, Manager, Corporate Communications, Mr. Jonah Iboma, and Project Manager, Projects Management Office, PHED, Engr. Chijoke Okwuokwenye respectively, however, assured customers of improved and sustained performances.
Mrs Manafa, who addressed staff and stakeholders at the 2016 special customers’ engagement forum on energy management and electricity bulb exchange in Ahoada, Rivers State, said they were committed to providing quality and reliable power to customers in her area of coverage.
