#MTNProjectFame9 : Hearty Birthday cheers For Bolanle Olukanni

... all contestants placed on Probation as Benjamin and Blessing Depart

The ongoing MTN Project Fame 9 continues to excite with more twists and turn as all contestants were once again placed on probation by the judges.

However there was time enough for the audience and co-show host, Joseph Benjamin to wish Bolanle Olukanni a happy birthday.

The delectable screen goddess, whose birthday fell on the day of the show was overwhelmed with emotions as the audience broke into rapturous cheers and a birthday song.

Not one to be left behind, co-host Joseph Benjamin serenades Bolanle with a special birthday song. As the chants of “Happy Birthday” and “I love you Bolanle” faded, Bolanle and Joseph wasted no time in getting down to the business of the day.

On the beautiful Saturday evening, the contestants performed a mash-up of African contemporary songs. But the moment of truth came when the contestants lined up to hear the verdicts based on the viewers’ votes. Gabriel, Oluchi, Benjamin, Blessing and Eli polled the least votes and had to perform one more time to prove themselves capable to continue in the race towards fame.

The captivating performances by the five left powerful emotions in the room, with Gabriel out shining his compatriots. Oluchi and Eli were saved by the Faculty members and fellow Project Fame contestants respectively while Blessing and Benjamin were evicted from the academy.

The duo wrapped up the show with powerful performances and strong words of self-encouragement.

Sunday was a Rock and Roll Night. The remaining contestants put up gutsy and energy performances. However, despite their performances, all contestants were once again placed on probation by the judges. The Sunday show closed with a performance by Johnny Drille from Project Fame Season 7.

The journey to fame continues to get more intense. However, there can only be one winner. Who would that winner be? Each week brings us closer to the answer!

To save your favourite contestant, all you need do is get the PF Super Subscription data bundle by sending PF to 303 for 100 naira only and start voting

Muslims attended church Catholic mass is France

(No PICTURE To SHOW)

Muslims attended Catholic mass in churches around France on Sunday in solidarity following the brutal murder of an 85-year-old priest, Father Jacques Hamel by 2 ISIS jihadists. More than 100 Muslims were among the 2,000 people who packed the 11th-century Gothic cathedral of Rouen, near the Normandy town where the priest's throat was slit.

"I thank you in the name of all Christians," Rouen Archbishop Dominique Lebrun told them. "In this way you are affirming that you reject death and violence in the name of God."

A few policemen and soldiers stood guard outside but did not conduct searches on the attendees. The local imam Otaman Aissaoui led a delegation of Muslims to a Catholic mass and said:
"Being united is a response to the act of horror and barbarism."
Notre Dame church in southwestern Bordeaux also welcomed a Muslim delegation, led by the city's top imam, Tareq Oubrou.
"It's an occasion to show (Muslims) that we do not confuse Islam with Islamism, Muslim with jihadist," said Reverend Jean Rouet.
Muslims were responding to a call by the French Muslim council CFCM to show "solidarity and compassion" over the priest's murder on Tuesday.

A woman wearing a beige headscarf who sat in a back pew at a church in central Paris said:
"I'm a practising Muslim and I came to share my sorrow and tell you that we are brothers and sisters." Giving her name only as Sadia, she added softly: "What happened is beyond comprehension."
At the Saint Leger church in the northern city of Lens, around 30 Muslims attended mass wearing T-shirts emblazoned with messages such as, "Terrorism has no religion or identity".

Father Hubert Renard told the congregation: "We are not alone; our Muslim brothers are here too."

Many were moved to tears during the sign of peace, a regular part of the liturgy when the faithful turn to greet each other in the pews, either shaking hands or kissing.

Muslims also attended Catholic masses in Italy, notably at Rome's Santa Maria di Trastevere church, in response to a call by the Sant'Egidio community known for its international mediation efforts.

Also on Sunday, dozens of prominent Muslims published a joint letter pledging: "We, French and Muslim, are ready to assume our responsibilities."

Prophet Joshua Iginla predicts Zambia election

Again popular Abuja prophet, Bro. Joshua Iginla has won the heart of Zambians after his prediction of the just concluded presidential election came to pass. Checks revealed that the fiery prophet in January 2016 prophesied that the incumbent president Edgar Lungu would retain his seat as president.

It was gathered that it generated a lot of controversies especially when popular prophets across the world especially one from South Africa has chosen the opposition party as winner when the election would hold. Reports revealed that during Iginla’s three days crusade in Zambia On the 5th – 7th of May, 2016

He also declared openly to them that he saw two lions battling each other in the election but the older lion which is Lungu will emerge winner after a stiff competition.

In a Prophecy on December 31, 2015, He said
‘The economy will improve but not as expected. The election in Zambia will be will be like two lions fighting. The president should pray in terms of the election because I see betrayals from his camp and so called faithfuls. But in my vision, I see someone trying to pull him from his seat, yet he remain in the seat’’
Sources from Zambia confirmed that all he said about the election which took place on Thursday, 11th of August, 2016 came to pass.

It was a tough time for the Zambians as the battle for the seat of the President was one of a kind, one that has never being experienced.

The battle was between the Leader of Patrotic Front, who is also the sitting President, Edgar Lungu and his opponent, representing United Party for National development, Hakainde Hichilema.
The result of the election was released on  Monday, 15th of August, 2016, in favour of President Edgar Lungu, confirming  Joshua Iginla’s prophecy.

According to reports, Zambia’s incumbent President Edgar Lungu has been declared the winner of a closely fought presidential election, but the result was immediately challenged by his main opponent Hakainde Hichilema. Lungu, leader of the Patriotic Front (PF), won 50.35 percent of Thursday’s vote, against 47.67 percent for Hichilema, of the United Party for National Development (UPND), the Electoral Commission of Zambia said on Monday. The opposition party quickly, however, rejected the result, claiming the electoral commission had colluded to rig the vote against its candidate, to confirm the prophecy.

Similarly, In 2014, when Zambia President at that time, Michael Sata passed on after suffering from a strange illness, and an election was to be carried out, the Fiery Prophet, Joshua Iginla predicted that Edgar Lungu will be the President of the country whenever the election is carried out, even though Sata’s vice President, Dr Scott was appointed as acting President, Lungu was however appointed as the President after the election was observed.

Bandwidth restrictions: How govt’s own policy is undermining digital inclusion ...

By Emmanuel Elebeke
Nigeria’s march towards   digital inclusion may have started, but experts believe that it will take longer  than expected to attain the goal, if some retrogressive   policies of government are not urgently reversed.

A case in point is the subsisting federal government’s policy and directive that bandwidth should no longer be a recognized item in Ministries, Departments and Agencies’ (MDA) budgets.

This, no doubt has led to significant decrease in payment and demand for bandwidth services to the federal government’s ICT services provider, Galaxy Backbone.

Over time, government took over the responsibility for providing bandwidth and other allied services centrally through Galaxy Backbone, which showed an incremental growth over the time.

This expectedly   resulted into improved service delivery and efficiency in governance.

With the insufficient bandwidths and operational support, occasioned by the government policy somersault, sources from some MDAs have complained that they are experiencing dissatisfaction, inadequate coverage and frequent service failures.

The stalemate, Vanguard Hi-Tech learnt has also negatively hampered the perception and the sharing of common services from Galaxy, a practice, experts say,   has proven next to none in other countries.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive of Galaxy BackBone, Mr. Yusuf Kazaure , believes that this concept has not helped   the much needed adoption of ICTs by MDAs (e-Government) and the Federal government’s   efforts to get government online, through automation of work processed and deployment of public services online.

With this policy in place, he reasoned that there is lack of a proper policy framework for e-Government and the use of shared ICT services as a common practice globally.

Lamenting the development, Kazaure said, “MDAs are reverting to pre-Galaxy era and seeking to proliferate   ICT projects in silos, disparate infrastructure build-outs and duplicated ICT spending, with its consequences.

Also lamenting the setback, the Galaxy boss, pointed out that the ongoing devaluation of the naira in the country is impacting negatively on the operation of the agency.

As bandwidth, space segment and license/support costs are denominated in dollars, the operation cost is bound to increase.

It is projected that by 2025, the volume of mobile devices and applications, smart devices, mobile internet, social media, big data/analytics users will run into billions and applications in millions globally.

In 2005, only 100s of desktops for internet access, Lans and client/server users and 10s of the devices were available, while in 1985, when only mainframe computer was in vogue, few millions of people had access to computer and thousands of apps.

According to Galaxy Backbone, about 400 MDAs are currently connected with shared service infrastructure and over 3,000 MDA sites connected.

Similarly, the agency stated that over 405 km of fibre has so far been deployed in Abuja metro area and over 1722Mbps of internet provided for government institutions.

If the focus behind the Federal Government’s new move is to lower the cost of governance, it may well be taking several steps backwards as experts say that  investment in shared ICT infrastructure will not only lower cost of running government but will ensure faster service delivery, increased security and increased innovation.

Research shows that deployment of a harmonised services can reduce cost of running government by 40 per cent.

It also shows that MDAs that invest on centralized ICT infrastructure can anchor it spending on priority projects and manage common services in a more effective manner.

Data sharing all over the world has proven to be a dependable platform for securing data protection in running public institution like government.

In the modern knowledge economy, achieving data sovereignty and information security is possible in Nigeria if all segment of government is linked up in a shared service platform.

Studies have also proven that harmonized services facilitates rapid impact in achieving e-government programmes, improved fiscal discipline, public reform programmes and get government services online and accessible to more citizens.

Justin Bieber deletes Instagram account after committing online hara-kiri ...

In the 1970s, an angry, maligned rock star would throw his television out of his hotel window, but Justin Bieber has gone for the millennial-style nuclear option — deleting his Instagram account.

The baby-faced Canadian musician, 22, committed online hara-kiri after becoming upset by a barrage of negative comments about his new friendship with Sofia Richie.

LOS ANGELES, CA – DECEMBER 03:

Singer Justin Bieber performs onstage during KIIS FM’s 2012 Jingle Ball at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on December 3, 2012 in Los Angeles, California.

/AFP The pair have been pictured stepping out together several times in recent weeks, amid a frenzy of rumors linking them romantically.

Reacting to insults posted by fans alongside pictures of the 17-year-old model — singer Lionel Richie’s daughter — Bieber told his 77 million followers:

“I’m gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don’t stop the hate.

“This is getting out of hand, if you guys are really fans you wouldn’t be so mean to people that I like...

But the millionaire singer appears to have gone a step further, as clicking on links to his Instagram page now yields an error message.

Fellow singer Selena Gomez, Bieber’s former girlfriend, took the opportunity to twist the knife before the account was deleted.

“If you can’t handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol — it should be special between you two only,” the 24-year-old posted.

“Don’t be mad at your fans. They love you. They were there for you before anyone...

“It’s funny to see people that used me for attention and still try to point the finger this way.

Sad.

All love,” Bieber countered.

“Funny how the ones that cheated multiple times, are pointing the finger at the ones that were forgiving and supportive, no wonder fans are mad.

 Sad.

All love,” Gomez retaliated.

Bieber is the latest in a series of celebrities dealing with abuse on social media by closing their accounts.

Actress and comedian Leslie Jones quit Twitter temporarily in June — devastated by a torrent of racist and sexist abuse aimed at her by trolls.

Bieber recently shut his Snapchat account too, and announced in May that he would no longer be taking pictures with fans in public.

“It has gotten to the point that people won’t even say hi to me or recognize me as a human,” he wrote on Instagram.

“I feel like a zoo animal, and I wanna be able to keep my sanity...

Bieber and Gomez dated for almost two years from January 2011, but spilt up citing busy schedules.

Some fans interpreted “Sorry,” from Bieber’s album “Purpose,” which came out in November last year, as a message from the former child star to Gomez.

Bieber has had a string of legal run-ins for incidents including throwing eggs at a neighbor’s house, driving under the influence of alcohol without a license and allegedly assaulting a photographer...

I am not running against Crooked Hillary Clinton, media -Trump...

Donald Trump, clearly angered by news reports that he has grown depressed and sullen over his fading presidential prospects, has issued some of his sharpest attacks on the media.

I am not running against Crooked Hillary Clinton,” the Republican presidential candidate said in a speech late Saturday in Fairfield, Connecticut. “I’m running against the crooked media.

” TRUMP

Trump seemed particularly upset with a New York Times article that quotes unnamed associates of his as saying that in private “his mood is often sullen and erratic.

Republicans close to his campaign were quoted as saying he was “exhausted, frustrated and still bewildered” by the political process.

The real estate tycoon returned to his message on Sunday, tweeting:

My rallies are not covered properly by the media. They never discuss the real message and never show crowd size or enthusiasm.

Later, amid a flurry of further tweets on the subject, he added:

It is not ‘freedom of the press’ when newspapers and others are allowed to say and write whatever they want even if it is completely false!” Trump has complained for months about media coverage.

He has stripped a long list of news organizations — including the New York Times, Buzzfeed, Politico and the Washington Post — of their credentials, and vowed that as president he would make it easier to sue news outlets.

But media monitors say he has received more extensive coverage than any candidate in years. A prominent American journalist, James Fallows of The Atlantic magazine, suggested Trump’s very criticism reflected a degree of desperation, tweeting on Sunday:

I’ve seen winning campaigns and losing ones. 100% Iron Law:

campaign saying ‘our problem is the media’ is campaign on way down.

But Paul Manafort, the Trump campaign chairman, pushed back against that notion during an appearance Sunday on CNN, saying, “The campaign is moving forward and very strong.

We raised over $132 million in the last two months...

He noted that Trump had visited key battleground states such as Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida repeatedly and was “starting to get traction in those states...

However, recent polls have shown Trump’s numbers sagging badly in those battleground states, notably hurt by his critical comments about the Muslim parents of a fallen US soldier, and what some saw as his suggestion that “Second Amendment people” — gun lovers — take their dislike for Clinton into their own hands.

Manafort repeated the Trump claim that his Second Amendment remark was meant purely as an exhortation to vote.

But even one of Trump’s top advisers, Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama, conceded Sunday that the candidate needed to communicate “more effectively.”

“He’s got to wrestle in his own heart, how does he communicate who he is, what he believes, the change he thinks he can bring to America,” he said on ABC.

“He does need to communicate — and I think he can — more effectively...

The CNN interviewer also asked Manafort about mounting pressure on Trump to release his tax returns after Clinton released hers on Friday.

The channel broadcast video of Trump urging Mitt Romney, the Republican candidate in 2012, to release his returns at the time, saying, “If you didn’t see the tax returns, you would think there is almost, like, something wrong...

Manafort repeated Trump’s explanation that he is under audit by the Internal Revenue Service.

“When that’s completed, he’ll release the returns,” Manafort said, adding that Clinton’s returns showed income coming from “people who benefited from her State Department term as well,” referring to her time as secretary of State.

“I haven’t seen stories on that yet...

Nigeria's Basketball team D'Tigers have crashed out of the 2016 Rio Olympics after losing 86-69 to host nation Brazil, making it their fourth loss on the spin following previous defeats to Argentina, Spain and Lithuania.

Nigeria won the first quarter 16-15, but the next three quarters were won by Brazil and despite all efforts put in by the Nigerian lads, the Brazilians were just too tactically sound and defensively acute for the Nigerians to break down.

37yrs old man jailed 6-months touching girls breast...

By Monsuru Olowoopejo

An Ikeja magistrate’s Court, weekend, sentenced a 37-year-old man, Ibrahim Abu, to six months imprisonment for touching the breast of a 17-year-old girl (names withheld) without her consent.

Abu, who lives at 6, Mosque Close, Isheri-Olofin, Lagos State, was arraigned before Magistrate Osusanmi and sentenced last Friday for sexually assaulting the girl Monday last week.

Vanguard gathered that the girl was asked by her parents to learn hairdressing, while awaiting the release of her Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, SSCE, result.

It was learned that at 7:30p.m.

last week Monday, while she was returning home, Abu accosted the victim at Baale Bus Stop Akowonjo, and touched her breast without seeking her consent.

It was gathered that in retaliation, she slapped Abu and he hit her with a plank; she reportedly fell, became unconscious and was rushed to a hospital.

Abu was later arrested by policemen attached to Shasha Police Station and the case reported to Domestic, Sexual Violence Response Team, DSVRT.

Delivering her judgment, Osusanmi said the offence contravened Section 135 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

File: Reacting over the judgement, Coordinator of DSVRT, Mrs.

Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, said:

While we are pleased with this conviction, this case depicts the current height of impunity with which abusers act.

The success of this conviction can be linked to DSVRT’s early engagement with the concerned victim and collaboration with the police, who despite the pleas and pressures from members of the society, ensured that the case was charged to court.

The role of the society in encouraging victims to speak out, protect victims and encourage justice is now crucial more than ever..

 …put in Sex

Offenders’ Register

Vivour-Adeniyi disclosed that “the defendant’s name and details have been entered into the Sex Offenders Register.

We, therefore, use this medium to implore members of the society and stakeholders to play their roles in the fight against sexual and gender-based violence...
